Checking a flight from Gothenburg Landvetter costs nothing at Airlate.
A delay can lead to compensation if you arrive 3 hours or more late, but normally not if the airline shows that the circumstances could not have been avoided even with all reasonable measures.
What applies when you fly from or to Gothenburg Landvetter?
If you start your journey at Gothenburg Landvetter, EU261 normally covers you. Article 3(1)(a) is aimed at passengers leaving an airport in a Member State, and Gothenburg Landvetter Airport is in Sweden. The airline's home country normally makes no difference to departures from here.
If you are instead landing at Gothenburg Landvetter, the assessment depends on conditions. When the aircraft arrives from an airport outside the EU, an EU-registered airline is normally decisive (Article 3(1)(b), in the Consumer Agency's summary), whereas a flight from another EU airport is judged by its departure there. Your own route and the airline that really flew decide your case.
The levels for departures from Gothenburg Landvetter
The length of the flight sets the amount. The airport you started from and the price of the ticket do not affect it.
| Flight distance | Compensation level |
|---|---|
| Flights up to 1,500 km | €250 |
| 1,500–3,500 km (and longer intra-EU flights) | €400 |
| Flights over 3,500 km | €600 |
The amounts apply per passenger.
The airline may halve the amount if it offers rerouting that arrives no more than 2 hours (up to 1,500 km), 3 hours (1,500–3,500 km and longer intra-EU flights) or 4 hours (other flights over 3,500 km) after the original arrival time (Article 7(2)). For a delay on a flight over 3,500 km to or from a country outside the EU, the amount may also be halved if you arrive at least three but less than four hours late (Court of Justice, Sturgeon and Others, paragraph 63).

For flights entirely within the EU the level is 400 € even when the route is longer than 3,500 km, for example Tenerife.

After a delay at Gothenburg Landvetter: four steps
Gather your receipts and tickets
Save the booking confirmation, the boarding pass and every receipt showing what the delay cost you.
Write to the airline
The airline is the one to receive the claim. The Consumer Agency recommends getting in touch within two months.
Do not wait too long for a reply
If no answer comes after more than six weeks you can go further, and the Consumer Agency gives guidance on the options. If the answer is no, the National Board for Consumer Disputes can consider the compensation for someone who flew from Sweden. The Consumer Agency gives the fee as SEK 150.
Or let Airlate do the check
Airlate's check of your flight is free. What the service costs is shown further down the page.
Where do you take a complaint?
Always begin with the airline. Article 16 of the regulation requires each Member State to appoint a body for its implementation and lets passengers complain to such a body.
A different provision is section 14 of the Swedish Air Transport Act (2010:510): the Consumer Agency supervises whether airlines, agents, tour operators and ticket sellers comply with Regulation (EC) No 261/2004. The Act does not designate the Consumer Agency as the Article 16 body.
Keep in mind what the Consumer Agency does not do: it does not assess individual cases, decide disputes or pursue the company for you, but it does receive reports about companies that break the rules. For compensation claims the Swedish Transport Agency points to the National Board for Consumer Disputes. If you live in Sweden and the airline is registered in another EU, EEA or UK country, Konsument Europa is available as an adviser.

If an overnight stay becomes necessary, a hotel room and transport between the airport and the hotel must be offered free of charge.
Assistance for passengers with a disability is ordered from the airline, preferably already when booking and at least 48 hours before departure. Swedavia describes the service as free. On arrival the aim is 5 minutes after the aircraft reaches the gate and never longer than 20 minutes. Without a booking you may wait up to 45 minutes, or help may not be possible.
